Sales Tax Policy

Sales Tax Information

At ShopYellowPages, we strive to make buying and selling as simple and transparent as possible.

For Marketplace transactions processed through ShopYellowPages, we calculate, collect, and remit applicable sales tax as required by law. Our goal is to help Marketplace vendors focus on growing their businesses while ensuring applicable sales tax is handled responsibly.

Collection and Remittance of Sales Tax

For Marketplace purchases processed through ShopYellowPages:

  • We calculate applicable sales tax at checkout.
  • We collect sales tax from the buyer when required by law.
  • We remit collected sales tax to the appropriate taxing authorities where required.

Vendors remain responsible for their own income taxes, business registrations, bookkeeping, and any tax obligations not related to Marketplace sales tax collection.

Approved tax-exempt purchases will not be charged sales tax when a valid tax-exemption certificate is on file and applies to the transaction.

Vendor Responsibilities

Although ShopYellowPages collects and remits applicable sales tax for Marketplace transactions, vendors remain responsible for operating their businesses in compliance with applicable laws.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Registering and maintaining their business where required.
  • Reporting and paying federal, state, and local income taxes.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Meeting any tax obligations that are not related to Marketplace sales tax collected and remitted by ShopYellowPages.

Nothing in this policy should be interpreted as tax, accounting, or legal advice.

Refunds and Sales Tax

If an order is fully or partially refunded, any applicable sales tax associated with the refunded portion of the transaction will generally be handled in accordance with applicable law and our Payments, Refunds & Disputes Policy.

Tax-Exemption

Tax-Exempt Purchases

ShopYellowPages supports tax-exempt purchases for organizations that qualify under applicable law.

To make tax-exempt purchases, eligible customers must provide valid tax-exemption documentation for review and approval before completing tax-exempt orders.

Examples of organizations that may qualify include:

  • Government agencies
  • Public schools
  • Colleges and universities
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Religious organizations
  • Other organizations with valid tax-exempt status

Approval is subject to verification of the documentation provided.

To request tax-exempt status, customers may be asked to provide:

  • A valid tax-exemption certificate.
  • Any additional documentation reasonably necessary to verify eligibility.
  • Updated documentation if a certificate expires or changes.

ShopYellowPages reserves the right to approve, deny, suspend, or revoke tax-exempt purchasing privileges if documentation is incomplete, invalid, expired, or no longer qualifies under applicable law.

Responsibility for Accurate Information

Customers requesting tax-exempt status are responsible for ensuring that all documentation provided is accurate, current, and applicable to the purchases being made.

Providing false or misleading tax-exemption information may result in:

  • Removal of tax-exempt purchasing privileges.
  • Suspension or termination of an account.
  • Collection of applicable taxes where required.
  • Other action permitted by law.

Tax-Exemption Process

  • Customer creates an account.
  • They click “Apply for Tax-Exempt Status.” They upload their exemption certificate. ShopYellowPages reviews the documentation.
  • Once approved, a Tax-Exempt flag is added to their account.
  • Eligible purchases automatically bypass sales tax while the exemption remains valid.

Our Commitment

We believe pricing should be clear and transparent.

By calculating, collecting, and remitting applicable sales tax for Marketplace transactions, we aim to simplify the buying and selling process while helping our Marketplace vendors focus on what they do best – serving their customers and growing their businesses.
